Learning Center Day 2024
Learning Center Day is an annual event dedicated to teachers, school librarians and other professionals within education. This year, the one-day conference held on August 27 at University College Absalon – Roskilde will focus on school children’s involvement and empowerment.
The Social Design Unit will be part of the event with Eva Knutz and Thomas Markussen being invited to give a talk titled “Evaluation at child height”. The session will showcase how to involve school children in the evaluations of their reading experiences and how design research methods play a key role in this process.
The presentation is based on the “Læselyst og Læserum” project, which aims to stimulate children’s interest in reading through artistic interventions. The project’s main idea is that reading must be brought in as a natural part of children’s play, and that children should be actively involved as co-creators in the development of initiatives that promote reading – and in the evaluation of these.
Learning Center Day 2024 aims to provide insights into how children perceive their involvement and expression regarding their school life and to examine how schools can enhance didactic strategies to better include children’s perspectives.
