New PhD in Social Design Unit
Kristine Skov Hansen joined the Children in Grief project as a PhD student in February 2024. Her research is the core of the project and focuses on co-designing a new tool to support grieving children, with the goal of developing a set of recommendations for organizations to better address the needs of these children.
About Kristine
Having worked as a design practitioner for almost 10 years, Kristine is ready to study again and use her experience and knowledge within a practice-based design research project.
Kristine holds a Master of Arts within Communication Design from Kolding School of Design. After finishing her studies in 2013 she has worked as communication designer, mediator and curator in the cultural field within design, contemporary art, classical music and architecture. She has teaching experience in design and art and has been facilitating creative workshops for children in collaboration with NGOs and cultural institutions. Her interest and engagement in collaborating across cultures and various disciplines have resulted in various international exhibitions, projects and residencies.
About the project
She hopes the project will support children in coping with grief following parental loss. Additionally, the project aims to develop nonverbal tools that grief practitioners can use to facilitate dialogue and reflection among younger children in grief support groups.
She looks forward to learning from the children and practitioners involved in Danish grief support groups, as well as from professionals and researchers in the field of childhood bereavement and grief.
Kristine will work closely with Grief support groups from Tønder, Kolding, Copenhagen and Aalborg.
