Vacant post doc research position in our group

At the Department of Design and Communication at the University of Southern Denmark we have announced a new vacant post doc research position in social design. We are looking for a skilled design researcher with experience in practice-based research, co-design and user involvement who will be affiliated to our Social Design Research Unit. Over the years, the unit has conducted a number of large research projects within areas such as patient-centred healthcare, interventions and rehabilitation within prison and probation services and citizen participation in public space.

Social design is a research discipline that uses participatory approaches and practice-based design research to develop innovative solutions, services and systems. In particular, social design is engaged with social problems and vulnerable groups in society. By using design methods to involve citizens and stakeholders from the public and private sector, social design’s aim is to foster change and value for the individual and society. Today, social design is recognized as an established research discipline related to social entrepreneurship and social innovation.

Applicants must document their experience in using research methods within co-design and practice-based design research.

It is expected that applicants can demonstrate ability to bridge disciplines from human and social sciences and artistically inclined research. Moreover, applicants must document skills in navigating convincingly between theoretical and practice-based design research.

Apart from research, the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching courses within the educational programs at the Department of Design & Communication.

The period of employment is February 1, 2019 – September 30, 2020.
